Leading event design and project management firm iEDM has signed a new agreement with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) to continue delivering Overlay Delivery Partner Services for the FORMULA 1 Australian Grand Prix event.

The agreement extends iEDM’s longstanding partnership with AGPC through an initial extension period, with options that provide continuity through to 2035, reaffirming its role in delivering the complex temporary infrastructure and site overlay required for one of Australia’s most prestigious international sporting events.

As Overlay Delivery Partner, iEDM provides a full suite of services including engineering, design, project management and principal contractor services for the largest event in the Southern Hemisphere — the FORMULA 1 Australian Grand Prix.

The scale of the event build is immense, comprising:

  • Over 52,000 temporary grandstand seats
  • More than 50,000 square metres of marquee facilities
  • 230+ temporary buildings
  • 1,900 square metres of LED superscreens
  • 40 kilometres of temporary fencing

As the Principal Contractor, iEDM manages the safe and efficient delivery of the event infrastructure, coordinating around 250 contractors on site and overseeing a workforce of more than 2,200 employees who contribute to the successful staging and build of the event.

“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation,” said Liam Howe, Managing Director of iEDM. “The Formula 1 event is not only a cornerstone of international motorsport but also of Australia’s major events calendar. This agreement reflects the trust, capability and innovation that iEDM brings to safely delivering such complex builds at scale.”

Through its integrated approach and experienced team, iEDM strives to set new benchmarks in large-scale event delivery, with a strong focus on efficiency, sustainability, and safety across every stage of design and construction.

Tom Mottram, Chief Events Officer at AGPC said, ““We’re delighted to continue working with iEDM. Their proven expertise in managing complex overlay requirements and large-scale infrastructure is crucial to the seamless delivery of the Formula 1 event. The combination of motorsport, overlay, engineering and construction expertise that iEDM bring to the table is something that provides AGPC with comfort in our event delivery.”

The renewed partnership underscores iEDM’s leadership in major event infrastructure, reinforcing its position as one of Australia’s most trusted and experienced overlay delivery partners.
