OVERVIEW
Ambitious given it was less than 12 months from the first shovel in the ground to an umpire bouncing a football at an AFL game in the Barossa Valley. A twelve-month project where key activities were ‘stacked’ atop one and another to fast-track its delivery.
iEDM played a critical role as the Client-side PM; helping the Clients make decisions in both an overlay and permeant context. iEDM was the ‘glue’ of the project, ensuring that Clients, the Managing Contractor and the Design Team were all informed and progress was being made where required.
iEDM were also engaged to provide overlay design and integration services to ensure that the facility was suitable to host 2 games for the AFL’s Gather Round. This involved detailed overlay planning to inform the architectural and services designs for the project and reviewing designs to ensure that the facility would have the flexibility required to host a major event.
The scope of works included two AFL sized ovals, 4 new netball courts, resurfacing existing tennis courts, cricket viewing pavilion, a terraced seating area, Little Athletics infrastructure and clubrooms incorporating function area, changerooms and commercial kitchen.
A fast-track project requires long hours, clear communication and quick decision making. Our team did this with a friendly and positive attitude which further fostered a willingness for the entire alliance to keep pursuit of the required outcome.
