OVERVIEW
iEDM were engaged by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW) to provide specialist advisory services to determine the feasibility of Australia hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's (UNFCCC) 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) in 2026.
As part of the specialist advisory services, iEDMs core responsibilities were to undertake venue overlay design, infrastructure planning & scoping, and commercial budgeting to support DCCEEW's bid to secure the conference in Australia.
iEDM completed a comprehensive venue feasibility investigation and planning process to the requirements of the United Nations Host Country Agreement (HCA) requirements, through compilation of key documentation:
The detailed venue design and overlay planning informed DCCEEW negotiations with UNFCCC and competing Host Countries where Australia was successful in securing a pre COP31 convention in the Pacific and COP presidency rights.
